THE VETERAN DELEGATE from Henrico, face scrunched in a nasty scowl, rose to speak.

Might the bill by the delegate from Virginia Beach interfere with that most sacred of American holidays —
Mother’s Day? barked Del. Jack Reid.

Oh, no, promised Del. Sal Iaquinto, a novice striving to guide his first piece of legislation to passage on the
House floor. The bill, designating the week preceding Mother’s Day as Little League Baseball Challenger Week
in Virginia, would do nothing of the sort.

Norfolk- Delegate Paula J. Miller (D-87) today announced her re-election bid for the 87th House District in the
Virginia General Assembly.

Delegate Miller’s re-election announcement was made to a standing room only crowd of 300 people at the
Knights of Columbus Hall in Norfolk’s Ocean View community.

Miller was first elected to the House of Delegates in a special election in December 2004. She won re-election in
2005.

Delegate Miller said among her proudest legislative achievements are: additional real estate tax relief for Norfolk’
s seniors and permanently disabled residents, support for a constitutional amendment allowing localities to
exempt up to 20 percent of an individual’s real estate assessments from taxation, introducing a bill to require
sex-offenders to register their internet and e-mail addresses and serving of a co-patron of a bill that, effective
July, 1, 2007, will prohibit 15,16 and 17 year old drivers from talking on the cell phone and text messaging
while they’re driving.

Delegate Miller told supporters that her next priorities include addressing Immigration laws at the state level,
further tightening gun law loopholes, tightening payday lending laws and additional gang violence legislation that
she is working on with Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Jack Doyle.

Conservation Voters.  VLCV is a non-partisan, statewide conservation organization dedicated to preserving
Virginia's natural landscape...  the selection is for votes that protect and enhance Virginia's historic and natural
landscapes.
